Helen Marie Harrawood Owen Webb passed away Friday, September 18, 2026 surrounded by family at Purpose & Passion HomeCare in Almo, KY. She was born December 23, 1931, in McLeansboro, IL, to Luther and Marie (Neel) Harrawood, and she had one sibling, Betty (Morris), who preceded her in death.

She and David Owen were married on August 16, 1951, had 3 children and farmed 180 acres in Hamilton County until 1970. Mom was funny, entertaining her children’s friends at sleepovers and birthday parties, she tended a large garden, was an excellent seamstress and amazing cook, and she helped her neighbors in need.

Helen graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and was a beloved teacher for several years in Aden and Enfield, IL.

She married Kenneth Webb, her childhood sweetheart, on December 1, 1975, moved to Pontiac, MI, and worked for Fischer Body. After Kenneth passed, she relocated to Murray, KY, where she enjoyed gardening and family, and was active in Eastern Star, an organization in which she was a member for almost 60 years.

Helen leaves behind her 3 children-Janet Lees (Eddie)-New Port Richey, FL, Lana Boggess (Terry)-Dexter, KY, and Rodney Owen-Carmi, IL; 5 grandchildren-David Sevilla (Jennifer)-Murray, KY, Monica Lynn (Casey)-Hickory, KY, Roger Lay (Natasha)-Mayfield, KY; Adam Owen-Springerton, IL, Michael Owen (Morristown, TN) and Cooper and Tanner (her granddogs she referred to as her babies); 12 great-grandchildren-Sam Sevilla, Jake Sevilla, Whittley Adams, Briley Lynn, Lilith and Damien Lay, Nora Owen, Hayden, Bryson, Gavyn, Westyn and Ava Lynn Owen; and one nephew-Evan Morris (Mary Ann) of Aurora, CO.

Family will receive friends and family at the chapel of Harre Funeral Home, 310 W. Randolph St, McLeansboro, IL on Thursday, 09/24/26, from 9:30-11:30am, with a graveside service to follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, also in McLeansboro.
