James Franklin Womack, 83, of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026 in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family.
He was born June 9, 1943, in McLeansboro to Lawrence and Ada (Halley) Womack.
He was an avid motorcycle rider and loved to take trips on his Harley. One of his favorite hobbies was woodworking and he made numerous bowls, cutting boards and rolling pins for friends and family. Besides woodworking, he enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with friends.
After his retirement from Omni Source in Kernersville, NC, he returned to his hometown of McLeansboro.
He is survived by his children James of Georgia, daughter Ann (Mike) Anthony of Arnold, MO, and Joe (Kristie) of King, NC; grandchildren Miranda "Muff," Zachary, Jessica "Doolittle," Jakob, Alison "Alibee," Ashley, Cody, Amber "Barney" and Hunter; stepdaughter Dawn "Twiggy" Stanley of Rural Hall, NC; sisters Janet (Victor) Knight of Dale, Phyllis Hunt of Dale and Dee McMahon of Mt. Vernon, IL; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Lillian York, Nancy Frey and Judy Kirkland.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial will be in I.O.O.F Cemetery in McLeansboro.
