Sammie Lou Smith, 91, of McLeansboro, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 25, 2026, in McLeansboro. She was born on February 16, 1935, in Beggs, Oklahoma, to Dwight and Margurite Morris.

A devoted wife and mother, Sammie married Rolla D. Smith on November 17, 1951, in McLeansboro, Illinois. Their marriage marked the beginning of a life centered on faith, family, and enduring love.

Sammie worked at Hamilton Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aide, a role that reflected her caring nature and her willingness to serve others. She was a woman of deep faith and attended Dale Pentecostal Church, where she enjoyed singing and praising her Saviour. Her happiest times were often spent with those she loved most. She cherished time with her family, especially gathering for Sunday meals together. She also enjoyed shopping, playing card games such as Uno and Skip-Bo, and spending time with her sisters.

Above all, Sammie will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and the warmth she brought to everyday life. She is survived by her daughters, Deb Taylor, Karen Hilborn, Pamela Webb, and Sheryl Cluck; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Steve Morris. May her memory continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolla Smith; her parents, Dwight and Margurite Morris; and her granddaughter, Audrey.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home, 310 West Randolph, McLeansboro, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home. Interment will take place at 1:45 p.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Randolph Street (Illinois 14), McLeansboro, Illinois.
