Obituary

Wade Alan Wheeler, age 62, of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away at his residence on July 2, 2026. He was born on August 21, 1963, in McLeansboro, Illinois to Ralph and Maude Wheeler. Wade’s life was a testament to steadfast dedication, practical skill, and a profound appreciation for the simple pleasures that make each day meaningful.

Known to friends and family for his resourceful nature, Wade was a handyman through and through. If something was broken, it was simply another challenge that needed fixing. His workshop was never far from reach, often with an ice-cold Busch Beer in one hand and a Marlboro light in the other. Wade was happiest with a project nearby, ready to tackle any mechanical puzzle or home repair that crossed his path. Even when a solution proved elusive, he was undeterred in his efforts, approaching each task with determination and—more often than not—a colorful commentary befitting his unfiltered honesty. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty and always found a way, embodying a work ethic and resilience that inspired those around him. Wade Alan Wheeler’s unwavering approach to life, his ability to fix almost anything, and his humble enjoyment of life’s everyday moments will live on in the memories of family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Wade’s legacy is carried forward by those who knew him best and cherished his presence. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Wheeler; his devoted daughter, Maude (Ralph) Harrison; his cherished granddaughter, Pyper; his beloved step-daughter Tootie; his step-granddaughter Zada; his step-grandson Seth; his brother, Nick; and his sisters, Barb, Nancy Jo, Carolyn, and Lisa. He is also remembered fondly by his sister-in-law, Vicky Wheeler.

In addition to those surviving him, Wade was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Gary and Richard, as well as his sister, Betty Buckner. Their memories remain enshrined in the hearts of Wade’s loved ones, whose bonds were deeply treasured throughout his life.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family is being served by Harre Funeral Home, 310 West Randolph Street, McLeansboro, Illinois 62859.
